As per Governor Greg Abbott’s March 31, 2020 Executive Orders, Triumph Public High Schools officials announced today that they will be extending the temporary closure of their schools until May 1, 2020 to potentially re-open on Monday, May 4, 2020.
Last week Triumph Public High Schools began to issue Chromebooks and educational packets to all students. Students began to utilize their new equipment last week through the school’s distance learning program which utilizes the Google Classroom Platform.
Remote instruction will continue until May 1, 2020. The extended temporary closure will be re-evaluated to determine if further closures will be warranted.
Triumph Public High Schools
Triumph Public High Schools recognizes that Texas law gives the public the right to access certain government records that are otherwise not exempted from disclosure, and that the law contains guidelines for the timeframe in which we must respond to requests for information. Please understand that, due to the current federal and state emergency declarations related to COVID-19 (the Coronavirus), our school’s normal school operations have been suspended and we are currently operating with a skeleton crew. Moreover, on March 19, 2020, Governor Greg Abbott signed an order closing all schools throughout the State of Texas beginning at 11:59 pm on March 20, 2020 and continuing through at least 11:59 pm on April 3, 2020.
The Attorney General recognizes that days when public bodies are closed and skeleton crew days are not counted as business days for the purposes of calculating response deadlines under the Texas Public Information Act. For these reasons, we currently are not processing open record requests. We will resume processing requests within the timeframe required by state law once school reopens and we have more than a skeleton crew available at our school facilities.
